How the instant draw works

Paste your participants into the left box, one name per line, and your prizes into the middle box. Press Draw Now! and the results appear straight away, each winner paired with a prize. There is no wheel to wait for, which is the point: when you have forty names and twelve prizes, a spinning animation for every single one turns a two minute job into a twenty minute one.

Pick a mode at the top before you draw:

By default the draw uses every name and every prize. Untick Pick all participants or Draw all prizes and the − and + buttons let you set an exact number, say three winners out of two hundred entries.

Prize quantities without typing the same line twice

If you are giving away three identical T-shirts, write T-Shirt x3 on one line. The tool expands it into three separate prizes before the draw, so three different people can win one each. Gift Card x10 works the same way, and so does a capital X.

The options, and when to change them

OptionWhen it is onTurn it off when
No duplicate winnersA name that appears twice in the list counts once, so nobody can win two prizesYour rules give extra entries, for example one per comment, and a person may win more than once
Each prize once onlyEvery prize line is handed out onceA prize is unlimited, like a discount code, and several winners can receive it
Animate resultsResults appear one after another, which looks better on a stream or a screen shareYou just need the list as fast as possible

Under Result style you can show winners as cards or as a numbered list. The numbered list is easier to read aloud and to paste into a post.

Bringing names in from social media

Typing entries by hand is where most mistakes happen, so the Import button offers three shortcuts:

  1. TXT or CSV file. One entry per line, for example a column exported from a spreadsheet or a form.
  2. Paste comments. Copy the comments from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or Twitch and paste them in. The tool reads the username at the start of each line, removes the @ unless you ask to keep it, and can drop repeated names so each person counts once. You see a preview with the count before anything is added.
  3. YouTube comments. Paste a video link and the tool fetches the public comments for you, then offers to import the commenters.

Tick Append to existing if you are collecting entries from more than one place, for example an Instagram post and a YouTube video for the same giveaway. For a longer walkthrough, see how to run a fair giveaway, the Instagram giveaway guide and the Facebook and TikTok giveaway guide.

Why the result is fair

The draw shuffles both lists with the Fisher-Yates method, which gives every possible order exactly the same chance. Each random number comes from crypto.getRandomValues, your browser's cryptographically secure generator, and values that would favour the start of the list are thrown away rather than wrapped around. Nobody, including us, can steer who wins. The whole process runs in your browser and your list of names is never uploaded to our servers. The how our randomness works page explains this in more detail.

After the draw, the lists lock so nothing can be edited by accident while you announce the winners. Print gives you a clean page to save as a PDF, and Copy puts a numbered list on your clipboard, ready for a comment or a story. When you are done, New Draw unlocks everything.

Instant draw or spinning wheel?

Both pick winners with the same secure randomness. The difference is the audience. A spinning wheel builds suspense and works best live, with one winner at a time. The instant draw is for large lists, many prizes, or any draw where the result matters more than the show.

Questions people ask

How many names can I add?

There is no fixed limit. Lists of several thousand names draw instantly on a normal laptop or phone.

Can the same person win twice?

Not while No duplicate winners is on, which is the default. Turn it off only if your rules allow several entries per person.

What happens if I have more prizes than people?

The draw stops when the names run out, so every winner gets one prize and the extra prizes stay unassigned. Draw again with the leftover prizes if you want to give them away.

Can I prove the draw was fair?

Share your screen or record it while you press Draw Now, then post the printed or copied list. Because the result is decided at the moment you press the button, a recording shows the whole draw from start to finish.

Do I need an account?

No. The instant draw is free and works without signing in.
